Frequently asked questions
If your question isn’t here, ask me directly — I answer every message personally.
When is my Initial Enrollment Period?
Your IEP is seven months long: the three months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month, and the three months after. If your birthday falls on the 1st, Medicare treats your birthday month as the month before. Use the IEP calculator to see your exact dates.
What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicaid?
They are two different programs that people often mix up. Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are private Medicare plans that bundle your Part A and Part B coverage, and often prescriptions and extras. Medicaid is a separate state program based on income and resources. You can have both at once — that is called being “dual eligible,” and it opens up D‑SNP plans.
What are AEP and OEP?
AEP (Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 – December 7) is when anyone on Medicare can review and change plans for the coming year. OEP (Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment, January 1 – March 31) allows one change if you are already on a Medicare Advantage plan.
What should I bring to a consultation?
A list of your doctors, your prescriptions with names and doses, your current insurance card or cards, and any questions or concerns on your mind. Nothing formal — whatever you have is a fine place to start.
Does a consultation cost anything?
No. Most consultations are completely free, and there is never any pressure to enroll. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member along for support.
Which states are you licensed in?
Georgia, Alabama, and Michigan. If you are outside those states, reach out anyway — I am happy to point you in the right direction.
